In the footsteps of Joseph Déchelette
This Sunday, June 26, 2011 was the opportunity for our village to receive the members of a young association based in Ambierle and chaired by Edouard Déchelette: the association of “Parents and Friends of Joseph Déchelette. The group of about thirty people was welcomed at Manoir de la Mure by members of our association. After the welcome coffee, the group discovered François Allier’s workshop “The jewels of the Oppidum” and visited the house to the dungeon which belonged to Joseph Déchelette and of which Mrs. Balaguy is the current owner. Led by Nathalie Rabeyrin, the group also visited the church of Saint-Maurice to appreciate the medieval paintings of the choir discovered by the famous archaeologist.
After lunch, the group traveled to Joeuvres for a guided tour of the Gallic oppidum where the famous bronze statuettes were discovered. The visit commented by Vincent Georges, archaeologist at the Institute of Archaeological Research of Lyon-Bron, enabled to better appreciate this stronghold held by the tribe of Segusiavi. Some people then wished to go to the house of artists Marie and Serge Chachkine. A thematic and friendly day that confirmed the bringing together of our two associations.
